A DFI indicator (dynamic passenger information) shows passengers in real time when the next bus or train is coming. The displays are installed at bus stops, train stations and central public transport hubs and ensure that travelers are always informed about current departure times, delays and disruptions. Brandmaier offers DFI displays both as LED full matrix displays and as energy-efficient LCD variants.
Which display technologies does Brandmaier offer for DFI systems?
Brandmaier uses two proven technologies: full-matrix LED displays and low-power LCD displays. The LED version is particularly suitable for large overview displays at busy junctions, as it is easy to read even from a long distance. The LCD displays require less than 3 watts and can be easily powered by solar and battery power — ideal for stops without a power connection.
Do Brandmaier DFI indicators also work without a power connection?
Yes Brandmaier's low-power LCD displays are specifically designed for locations without a power supply. Thanks to their extremely low energy consumption of less than 3 watts, they can be reliably powered by a combination of solar cell and lithium battery. The background system even monitors the battery status and indicates possible faults at an early stage.
How is the real-time data transferred to the DFI indicators?
The Brandmaier DFI background system works as a central data hub. It reads real-time information from various data providers — for example via VDV interfaces or OpenData — and transmits this efficiently to the respective displays. Using a user-friendly web interface, you can also enter special texts, group ads and store language announcements.
